Deterioration takes its toll
Locomotive #1673 sits idle, tucked away in Himmel Park.  It is largely forgotten, and rust eats away at the exposed metal.  Other cities such as Benson (AZ) become interested in obtaining the engine for display in their cities.   Vandals deface the engine and tender and many of the original parts such as gauges and handles are stolen.
